The current DALI standard covers Control Gears (such as ballasts and LED drivers). The new enhancement of the DALI standard, DALI version 2 (DALI2) will also cover Control Devices (such as panels and sensors). In DALI2, the Control Gears part and the general part of the Control Device part (103) has been updated and recently released. The rest of the control device standards (covering all specific devices) will be released by the end of 2015.

The DALI2 standard enhances the DALI with

• More clarity and system robustness 
• Bus powered devices defined
• Extended fade time - up to 16 minute 
• 24-bit frames defined
• Multi-channel devices allowed
• Input devices are defined (2015)
• 64 additional addresses for control devices (2015)
• Manufacture specific modes (2015)

To ensure the product compliancy with the DALI 2 standard a new Logo Licensing Process will be introduced. As a result of this process, the customers can easily find suitable DALI version-2 products on the central DALI license server, knowing that the products have passed the DALI2 test and the results have been centrally approved.
